Facial Plastic Surgery Associates offers Pro-Nox to help relieve anxiety or pain prior to most non-invasive aesthetic treatments.
If you are apprehensive about having a procedure because of anxiety or pain, Pro-Nox may help you. Inhaling the 50/50 combination of oxygen and nitrous oxide (known also as laughing gas) can enhance the effects of local anesthetics such as lidocaine.
Traditionally for many simple procedures or treatments, patients take a Vicodin (for pain relief) and/or Valium (a muscle relaxer) ahead of time. However, it takes time for the effects to kick in and several hours for them to leave the body which requires a patient to have a driver to take them home. With Pro-Nox the effects wear off quickly allowing the patient to safely drive themselves home.
What is Pro-Nox?
Pro-Nox is an FDA-approved anxiety and pain relief system that can help reduce the pain or discomfort during your treatment. The full name is Pro-Nox Nitrous Oxide Delivery SystemIt is a fixed mixture of 50% Nitrous Oxide and 50% Oxygen that utilizes a special on-demand valve that only delivers the medical gases when you inhale. The equipment is calibrated to make sure a perfect 50/50 blend is delivered with each breath.
While holding the Pro-Nox mouthpiece to your mouth and then breathe in and out as directed by Dr. Delaney or Dr. Kridel. The effects are normally felt within just a few breaths offering immediate relief of pain and anxiety without needles or pills.
With Pro-Nox, patients usually feel relaxed and calm within a few seconds of inhaling the gas. This sensation wears off quickly after you start to breate normally.

Dr. Delaney is an excellent doctor. He performs any procedure so expertly the results are perfect. He has such a wonderful eye, the results never look artificial or exaggerated. The staff is great, too. A very pleasant office experience!
Best practice in Houston. Dr Delaney fixed my lip injections done at a med spa. He took time to set out realistic goals for future work I’d like done. I’ve seen Dr Kridel for years in the past and he’s the best of the best. You are in the best care under these doctors and staff.

About UsPro-Nox FAQs
Who is not a good candidate for Pro-Nox?
Pro-Nox is not a replacement for IV sedation or General Anesthesia. For more complex and longer surgeries, Pro-Nox is not an alternative.
How long does it take to get out of your system?
When your pain subsides, take a couple of normal breaths with the Pro-Nox mouthpiece and the nitrous oxide is expelled from your body quickly.
Is Nitrous Oxide Safe?
This fixed mixture of Nitrous Oxide and Oxygen has been used around the world for a long time. Studies have shown that it is non-addictive and can even decrease the need for other pain medications in some instances. It has been used in aesthetics, but also, in labor and delivery, orthopedics, urology, and dermatology.
Does Pro-Nox have side effects?
Some patients could have some nausea, but taking a few breaths without the mouthpiece should eliminate it.
How much does it cost?
For procedures over $1,500, there is no additional charge for Pro-Nox. For procedures under $1,500, the cost is only $100.00.
