As you age, your face produces less collagen, and the existing collagen stretches out and becomes more disorganized. Outwardly, the skin becomes thinner, looser, and less elastic, which leads to more wrinkle formation. To reverse these conspicuous markers of aging, Facial Plastic Surgery Associates is thrilled to provide AccuTite, a minimally invasive radiofrequency-assisted skin tightening procedure. AccuTite is the smallest minimally invasive radiofrequency contraction device on the market, and it is the counterpart to our popular FaceTite treatment used to treat the lower face and neck. Because of its small size, the AccuTite device is well-suited to treat smaller, more delicate areas of the face. Common facial areas that we treat using the AccuTite include the (1) lateral brows, (2) upper and lower eyelids, (3) nasolabial folds, (4) jowls, and (5) under the chin. Additionally, AccuTite is an excellent complement to other surgical and nonsurgical aesthetic procedures. How Is AccuTite Performed?
One of our board-certified facial plastic surgeons, Dr. Sean Delaney and Dr. Russell Kridel, personally perform all AccuTite treatments. Depending on your preference, the treatment is performed under local anesthesia or iv sedation. First, the target areas are sterilized and numbed with nerve blocks. The small AccuTite probe is then introduced through a needle poke, and no incisions are required. Next, the probe is advanced back and forth over the treatment area to heat the overlying skin to the target temperature. The radiofrequency energy emitted by the device contracts the collagen fibers in the skin and jump-starts a healing cascade that will stimulate the skin to create more collagen in the months to come. Sessions typically take 15 to 60 minutes, depending on the number of treatment areas. After completing your AccuTite session, you will be provided aftercare instructions.

Recovery
The recovery time for AccuTite is significantly shorter than surgery because no incisions are made. It is normal to experience slight skin redness, swelling, and mild bruising in the treatment areas for 7 to 10 days. You may experience some tightness, mild soreness, and temporary numbness or sensations of pins-and-needles for a few days.
The radiofrequency energy delivered by the AccuTite jump-starts the healing cascade to create more collagen and firmer skin. Results typically begin to show around 4 to 5 months after treatment and will continue to improve up to 12 months.
While it may seem intuitive to apply ice or a cold compress to the treated areas after the procedure, you actually want to avoid cooling your face to allow the inflammatory process to take its course so it can stimulate more of a reaction.
You can begin wearing makeup at 72 hours after the procedure. Plan to give yourself 2 to 3 days to recover before returning to work. Also plan to rest for 5 days before exercising or going to the gym again.
