| Did you ever wish you could peel away dry, weathered, wrinkled skin and find smoother, younger skin beneath?
That's the job of a chemical peel (also called phenol or deep peel).
Aging creates a network of fine, spidery lines and wrinkles around your eyes, above your upper lip, and across the face, and if you smoke or sunbathe, these wrinkles are often very pronounced. Since a face lift doesn't eliminate wrinkles, a peel is often an adjunct to this popular surgical procedure.
How does a chemical peel work?
Essentially, a chemical peel is exactly what it sounds like. Dr. Kridel uses cotton swabs to paint a special solution on the area of your face that you want treated. You'll experience a very brief stinging sensation as it's applied. Afer 30 minutes, the area will feel like a mild sunburn (you ease discomfort with medication).
Having your whole face done requires a day in the hospital--unless you choose to have your face done in segments in the doctor's office. Dr. Kridel can treat a small area in the office setting. |
