Injectable Wrinkle Fillers, do just that – they fill in creases and lines and depressions. There are primarily 3 brand names of Wrinkle Fillers --- Restylane, Juvederm and Radiesse. For facial depressions, there is Sculptra.

Dr. Kridel talks about the differences between
these four Injectable Fillers in this video.

Restylane and Juvederm

Restylane and Juvederm are similar products and can be used interchangeably. They are technically known as Hyaluronic Acids and are used to fill in fine lines and facial creases and for lip augmentation.

Young, healthy-looking skin contains an abundance of a naturally hydrating substance called hyaluronic acid (HA). But as you age, sunlight and other factors can reduce the amount of HA in your skin. The lack of HA causes your skin to lose structure and volume, creating unwanted facial wrinkles and folds - like those parentheses lines around your nose and mouth. Using a dermal filler like JUVÉDERM® XC or Restylane is a safe and effective way to replace the HA your skin has lost, bringing back its volume and smoothing away facial wrinkles and folds.

With just one treatment in most patients, you’ll get smooth and natural-looking results that can last up to a year.

Radiesse:

Radiesse is known as a Calcium Hydroxyapatite. This is a thicker material than Restylane and Juvederm. This is not used for fine lines, rather Radiesse is used to fill in deep folds. These injections are popular for patients who are bothered by deeper lines near the corners of the mouth or "jowling" at the sides of the nose and mouth. In addition, we use Radiesse for volume replacement in the cheeks.

This tissue filler doesn't have to be done repeatedly as it lasts up to one or more years in some people. For many, Radiesse ® helps delay the need for a face lift. It successfully softens folds around the sides of the mouth and lip lines. However, it should not be used to make lips fuller.

When Radiesse® is injected in your face, you may experience mild discomfort, but to ease the treatment, the physician will use a numbing medication.

Where do you use fillers like Radiesse?
