Restylane Is A Great New Product For Facial Lines And Lips

Restylane is the hottest product on the cosmetic surgery horizon in ages, ideal for getting rid of facial wrinkles and plumping up your lips.

The tissue filler called Restylane can make you feel better about looking in the mirror after renowned Houston facial plastic surgeon Russell Kridel, MD, injects those tiny wrinkles and lines that are currently bothering you. (They're only somewhat noticeable right now, and you want to keep it that way.)

Lots of people today are looking into rejuvenating solutions of the no-scalpel variety--anti-aging solutions that are ideal if you're not ready for an invasive procedure like a face lift. Essentially, the way your skin looks relates to the way your skin is supported; wrinkles form when your natural collagen layer thins as you age. Also weakening collagen fibers are sun exposure, disease, injury, heredity, and lifestyle (smoking and poor nutrition, for example). It's good to note that the lines around your mouth are especially responsive to the effects of Restylane.

Newly FDA-approved and now in the offices of Facial Plastic Surgery Associates as of January, Restylane is destined to be one of the most popular products for facial rejuvenation.

Because we all eventually see signs of aging in our skin, doctors are doing lots of injections these days--Botox, Restylane, Radiance, and collagen are some of the most popular.

Made in Sweden, Restylane (Q-Med) is a hyaluronic acid gel product that lasts longer than collagen; in countries worldwide, more than a million people have been treated with Restylane successfully. This crystal-clear biodegradable gel is injected into nasolabial folds, lips, and other fine lines that can benefit. Some patients report that they think the result "looks better" than the results of collagen. (Incidentally, with collagen injections, more people experience allergic reactions, about two of 100 patients, compared to one in several thousand with Restylane.)

Restylane is also used for sculpting lips. You may want to have a more pronounced mouth or a soft pouting look. For a more pronounced mouth, Dr. Kridel can inject Reystylane in the upper and/or lower lip. This is often combined with the marking of the contour of the lip; Dr. Kridel injects Restylane gel along the lip line. This helps to keep lipstick from bleeding into lines around your lips. Gel may also be injected in the lines that go toward the nose, for an optimal result.

Tissue fillers like Restylane are excellent options if you're just beginning to notice signs of aging--and these bother you. Some people like to have these treatments along the way to help delay the need for surgery; for several years, they may be able to stay happy with the results of stopgap skin treatments, or they may be adjuncts to make the results of surgery look even better.
